Fortunately, disabling the front edge detection on the RIO printers is simple with the PRO firmware (version 1.00 or higher).
When the printer shows "Ready to Plot", press the [MENU] key
Press [NEXT] (right arrow) until you see "Utility >"
Press [ENTER].
Press [NEXT] until you see "Prefeed: Manual."
Press [UP ARROW] once to change this to "Prefeed: Take-up". This will remain flashing until you press [ENTER].
Press [CANCEL] until the screen shows "Ready to Plot".
After doing this, the machine will not attempt to detect the front edge and will only read the sides of the media.
